ABILENE, Texas – McMurry University Men's Tennis dropped its American Southwest Conference matchup Sunday against UT Dallas, falling 7-2 to the Comets.
After falling behind 2-0 in doubles play, the War Hawks (5-9, 2-1 ASC) got a win at number one by Carlos Martinez and Chase Daniell, 8-5.
The Comets (9-1, 3-1 ASC) then took a 4-1 lead before Martinez brought McMurry back within striking distance. Martinez earned his eighth straight singles win with a 6-2, 6-4 victory at number one.
Although UTD would win the match with the next two points, Zach Miller didn't give up at number six. After dropping set one, 6-3, Miller fought back to win set two, 6-2. However, he would drop set three, 10-6.
McMurry will look to get back on track Friday at Mary Hardin-Baylor, as the War Hawks begin the first of three ASC matchups on the road. First serve is at 2 p.m.
