BELTON, Texas – McMurry University Men's Tennis held an early lead at the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor Friday afternoon, but was unable to hold off the Crusaders, falling 6-3 at the Yvonne Li Tennis Center.
Carlos Martinez and Chase Daniell made quick work at number one doubles, picking up an 8-0 victory.
After the War Hawks (5-11, 2-3 ASC) dropped the final two doubles matches, Martinez and Daniell picked up where they left off. Martinez won 6-0, 6-1 at number one, while Daniell won both sets by an identical 6-3 margin. The two wins gave McMurry a 3-2 advantage.
However, the Cru (7-5, 3-2 ASC) won the final four singles matches for the win.
McMurry wraps up the regular season Tuesday at Hardin-Simmons at 2 p.m.
