DALLAS, Texas – McMurry University Men's Tennis traveled to Dallas Friday taking on the Moundbuilders of NAIA Southwestern College. In search of their first win of the year, the War Hawks were defeated, 7-2.
Carlos Martinez made his first appearance of the season, knotting the match at one with a doubles win at number one with Chase Daniell. Joseph Diaz and Chris Causer came up just short in a tightly contested match at number three, falling 8-6.
Martinez picked up McMurry's second point in singles play, winning at the number one flight, 6-1, 6-3.
At number two singles, the match went all three sets to determine a winner. Daniell won the first set 6-4, before dropping the second, 6-3. Daniell battled in the third before falling, 10-7.
The War Hawks will have another chance for a victory tomorrow against NCAA II Dallas Baptist University at the Seidel-Swagerty Tennis Center at 3 p.m.
