ABILENE, Texas – McMurry University Men's Tennis took on Southwestern University Saturday morning, falling to the Pirates, 8-1 at the Seidel-Swagerty Tennis Center.
Carlos Martinez and Chase Daniell picked up the War Hawks' only point of the day at number one doubles, 8-5, but McMurry battled at every flight. At number three, the duo of Joseph Diaz and Chris Causer fell by an 8-5 margin, while Connor Hogan and Zach Miller were topped 8-4 at number two.
Martinez put up a fight at number one singles, losing the first set in a tiebreaker, 7-6, before falling in the second set, 7-5. Diaz was topped 6-2 in set one at number four singles, and continued to battle in set two before a 6-3 setback.
The War Hawks will next host University of the Ozarks February 24 at 9 a.m.
