BOSSIER CITY, La. – McMurry University Women's Soccer once again grabbed a 1-0 lead looking for their first American Southwest Conference victory, but two second half goals by East Texas Baptist University gave the Tigers a 2-1 Saturday at the Freedom Fields. The game was originally moved due to weather and then called after 83 minutes of play.
Freshman midfielder Tagan Hansen gave the War Hawks (2-6, 0-3 ASC) a 1-0 lead in the 27th minute after putting through a shot from inside the box. It was Hansen's second goal of the season.
However, the War Hawks suffered the same fate as they did Thursday, allowing two goals midway through the second half. The Tigers (3-4-1, 1-3-0 ASC) got their first tally in the 72nd minute, and followed that up with the game-winning goal less than two minutes later.
Senior forward Cristen Lumbreras and freshman midfielder Meriah Sikora had the other shots on goal for the War Hawks.
In net, junior goalkeeper Jordan Gregory had nine saves.
McMurry continues ASC play Thursday at Wilford Moore Stadium as it takes on UT-Tyler at 5 p.m.
