ABILENE, Texas – The McMurry University women's tennis team rolled to an American Southwest Conference West Division win over the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor, by an 8-1 count, at the Seidel-Swagerty Tennis Center. The War Hawks improved to 10-7 overall and 4-1 in the ASC West.
McM took a 2-1 lead after doubles play, taking the Nos. 2 and 3 matches. At line two,
Claire Huffine and
Zayra Gomez won a hard-fought 8-5 decision. They improved to 9-3 as a team in 2018. At line three pairs,
Briana Perez and Kaitlyn Roberts rolled to an 8-0 victory.
The War Hawks easily swept all six singles contests, winning each in straight sets. At line one singles, it
Samantha Ritz was a 6-2, 6-0 winner.
Line two went to Huffine, 6-0, 6-1, and line three to Gomez, 6-0, 6-3.
Symphony Munoz battled her way to a 7-5, 6-4 win at No. 4 singles. Perez and
Neah Garza won at the Nos. 5 and 6 singles, respectively.
Ritz, Huffine, Gomez and Perez all collected their 11th singles wins of the season.
