ABILENE, Texas – McMurry University women's tennis kept its recent hot streak going, winning its fifth-consecutive match with a 7-2 non-conference victory over Texas Lutheran University at the Seidel-Swagerty Tennis Center. The War Hawks climbed above the .500 plateau, as well, improving to 6-5 overall, while the Bulldogs fell to 7-5.
After the doubles competition, McM took a 2-1 lead in the team scores. Losing No. 1 doubles, the War Hawks bounced back to takes the Nos. 2 and 3 matches. At No. 2 pairs play,
Claire Huffine and
Zayra Gomez won 8-6, upping their record as partners to 5-1 on the year. At No. 3 doubles,
Briana Perez and Kaitlyn Roberts improved to a perfect 3-0, thanks to their 8-0 win.
At No. 1 singles, junior
Samantha Ritz won by a 6-0, 6-2 score and Huffine followed with a 6-0, 6-1 win at No. 3. Gomez won 6-1, 6-4 at No. 4 singles, Perez took No. 5 by scores of 6-3, 6-4 and
