TEXARKANA, Texas - McMurry University women's tennis defeated Texas A&M University-Texarkana, 7-2, to notch its third-consecutive victory. The War Hawks improved to 4-5 with the win at Texarkana High School's courts.
 
McMurry jumped out to the quick 3-0 score in the team race by sweeping all the doubles matches.  At No. 1 pairs play, McM's Samantha Ritz and Kiara Jones won an 8-6 decision. After losing their very first match together, it was the third-straight win for the Ritz-Jones tandem.
 
It was the same story for Claire Huffine and Zayra Gomez at the No. 2 doubles line, also registering their third-consecutive win.  Briana Perez and Kaitlyn Roberts won a tough battle at No. 3 doubles, 9-8, with a 7-2 tie-breaker score.
 
In singles, the War Hawks were victorious at the Nos. 1 and 3-6 matches, all in straight sets. Ritz was leading TAMUT's Daejia Lynch, 5-4, when the Eagles' No. 1 player was unable to continue.  Huffine was dominating at the No. 3 line, 6-0, 6-0, with Gomez winning 6-2, 6-2 at No. 4.
 
Perez took line five singles by a 6-4, 6-1 count.  At No. 6 singles, Neah Garza dispatched of her opponent by a 6-0, 6-1 score.
