BELTON, Texas – McMurry University Volleyball saw its season come to an end Friday evening with a 20-25, 25-20, 13-25, 23-25 loss to Concordia Texas in an elimination match at the American Southwest Conference Tournament.
McMurry knotted the match at a set apiece after two sets, but was unable to carry that over to the third and fourth sets.
Senior libero Odalis Rodriguez capped her career with a 27-dig performance, leaving her with 2,039 for her career, just 15 shy of the program record of 2,054. Junior outside hitter Jordyn Burnell totaled 19 digs, while senior defensive specialist Christian Brown and junior setter Emarie James tallied 12 and 10, respectively.
James recorded a double-double by dishing out 21 assists, tied with sophomore setter Lauryn Davis, who also passed out 21 helpers.
McMurry struggled to find the offense, hitting just .102 for the match. Burnell and junior middle blocker Justice McGowan each tallied a dozen kills. Senior outside hitter Jasmine Jones added nine and junior middle blocker Kianni Mitchell pitched in with eight.
Mitchell led the War Hawks at the net with five assisted blocks as the War Hawks totaled seven for the match.
Rodriguez was named to the All-Tournament team after recording 73 in the three tournament matches, for an average of 6.08 per set. She recorded more than 25 digs in two of the three matches and topped the 2,000 dig mark for her career in the match versus Mary Hardin-Baylor.
