Men's Soccer seeks first road win

ABILENE, Texas – McMurry University Men's Soccer will seek to pick up their first road victory of the season this week, as they travel to face American Southwest Conference foes Belhaven University and Louisiana College. The matchup with the Blazers is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. Thursday, while the matchup versus the Wildcats is set for 2:30 p.m. Saturday.

NOTES:

Last Week: McMurry went 1-1 last week, dropping a match to UT-Tyler on Thursday, 3-0, before coming back on Saturday to defeat University of the Ozarks, 1-0.

First shutout: The victory over Ozarks was the first shutout of the season for the War Hawks.

Keane honored: Sophomore goalkeeper Aidan Keane was honored as the ASC Defensive Player of the Week after recording seven saves in the shutout over Ozarks. It also marked his first career start as a War Hawk.

ASC Standings: The War Hawks currently sit fifth in the ASC standings with seven points, tied with East Texas Baptist. Concordia Texas leads the conference with 15 points, while the War Hawks are just two points behind fourth place LeTourneau.

.500: McMurry is an even .500 just past the halfway point in the season, as they are 3-3-3 on the season.

Statistic leaders: Senior forward Rafael Lara leads the team with five goals and 10 points, while junior midfielder Jesus Sanchez and sophomore defender DJ Jaime each have two assists.

About Belhaven: The Blazers are 2-6-2, 1-4-0 ASC in 2018 and led by senior forward Alex Hale's five goals. The War Hawks have yet to defeat the Blazers in their three all-time meetings, with the Blazers taking the first two and last year's match ending in a 0-0 tie.

About Louisiana: McMurry leads the all-time series 8-3-2, having won the last four meetings. The Wildcats are currently 2-8-1, 1-4-0 ASC, and have three players who have each scored three goals this season.
