BELTON, Texas - McMurry University women's soccer team fell in an American Southwest Conference match-up at the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor, 3-1, at UMHB Field. The loss by the War Hawks (5-10-1, 3-6-1 ASC) to the Crusaders (9-3-2, 8-1 ASC) kept McM from clinching an ASC post-season berth.
McMurry actually struck first against the Cru. In the 10th minute, sophomore
Emily Fisher served up a perfect corner kick to the face of the goal. Sophomore transfer
Sky Reynolds and a UMHB defender went up for the ball together, with Reynolds appearing to head the ball into the net. However, officials ruler it an own-goal off the defender instead, but gave McM the 1-0 advantage either way.
Mary Hardin-Baylor would knot the match at 1-1 six minutes later. The Cru added another tally in the 36th minute and carried a 2-1 lead into the halftime locker room. UMHB would book an insurance goal in the 88th minute for the 3-1 final score.

Cindy Villasana kept her team close with a strong second half. After permitting the two first half goals, Villasana helped keep the War Hawks within striking distance with five second-half saves (finishing the match with six saves).
In all, the Cru out-shot McMurry by a 20-7 margin for the afternoon. Reynolds was credited with four shot attempts to lead the War Hawks.
McMurry will close out the its 2018 ASC slate at home on Thursday (Oct. 25), hosting Hardin-Simmons University.
