Game Recap: Women's Soccer | | Dave Beyer, McM Sports Information Director

War Hawks Shutout by UT-Tyler, 3-0

TYLER, Texas – The McMurry University women's soccer team was defeated by perennial power University of Texas-Tyler, 3-0, to cap a two-match road trip.  The War Hawks slipped to 2-8 overall and 0-5 in the American Southwest Conference, while the Patriots improved to 6-3 and 3-3 in league matches.

McMurry's goalkeeper tandem of Cindy Villasana and Jordan Gregory combined for nine saves.  Vallasana had six saves – and gave up two goals (one an own goal) – playing the first 43 minutes of the match.  Gregory finished out the first half and played all of the second, making three saves and giving up a goal.

Eight of McMurry's saves came in the first half.  The War Hawks defense stiffened in the second segment, permitting just the two shots on-goal.

The War Hawks were out-shot by UTT, 27-5 overall.  The Patriots put 12 shots on goal, while McM were not able to test the UT-Tyler goalkeepers at all.

Kaitlyn Roberts had two of McM's shot attempts.  Emily Fisher, Alexa Aranda and Jolyn Noble had the others.

McMurry will next be in action on Thursday (Oct. 5), hosting Louisiana College at Wilford Moore Stadium.
