TYLER, Texas – The McMurry University women's soccer team was defeated by perennial power University of Texas-Tyler, 3-0, to cap a two-match road trip. The War Hawks slipped to 2-8 overall and 0-5 in the American Southwest Conference, while the Patriots improved to 6-3 and 3-3 in league matches.
McMurry's goalkeeper tandem of
Cindy Villasana and
Jordan Gregory combined for nine saves. Vallasana had six saves – and gave up two goals (one an own goal) – playing the first 43 minutes of the match. Gregory finished out the first half and played all of the second, making three saves and giving up a goal.
Eight of McMurry's saves came in the first half. The War Hawks defense stiffened in the second segment, permitting just the two shots on-goal.
The War Hawks were out-shot by UTT, 27-5 overall. The Patriots put 12 shots on goal, while McM were not able to test the UT-Tyler goalkeepers at all.
Kaitlyn Roberts had two of McM's shot attempts.

McMurry will next be in action on Thursday (Oct. 5), hosting Louisiana College at Wilford Moore Stadium.
