ABILENE, Texas – McMurry University women's soccer gave up a first half penalty kick goal and it proved to be the difference in a 1-0 loss to East Texas Baptist University in an American Southwest Conference bout at Wilford Moore Stadium. The loss dropped the War Hawks to 2-5 overall and 0-2 in the ASC, while the Tigers improved to 5-2-1 and 2-0-1 in league.
The lone score of the contest game in the 34th minute after McM was whistled for a foul in the box and ETBU was awarded the PK. Heather Brady lined up the ball against War Hawks' goalkeeper
Jordan Gregory and slide it to Gregory's left and into the net.
Gregory had five saves in the first half. Freshman
Cindy Villasana took over duties in the net the second half and had four saves in 45 shutout minutes.
McM was out-shot by the Tigers, 17-4. ETBU put 10 shots directly on-goal. Conversely, the War Hawks had just two shots on goal, both by junior forward
Cristen Lumbreras.
Angelica Navarro had McM's other two shot attempts.
