BELTON, Texas – The McMurry University volleyball team was swept in a key American Southwest Conference West Division match, falling at the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor, 25-19, 25-22, 25-18 at the Mayborn Campus Center.
The loss dropped the War Hawks to 8-3 overall and 1-1 in the ASC. The Crusaders improved to 11-1 on the year and 3-1 in conference.
Junior
Madison Reed led the McM attack with eight kills and a .316 attack average for the night. Am trio of War Hawks –
Jasmine Jones,
Jordyn Burnell and
Justice McGowan chipped in six kills, apiece.
McGowan and freshman
Verlyncia Nelson each had three block assists to top the team in that category.
In the back row, Burnell had a match-leading 16 digs.
Odalis Rodriguez added 14 digs from the libero position.
Sophomore setter
Emarie James had 17 assists and
Lauryn Davis booked 11 "helps", as well. James and Davis had four and five digs, respectively.
Christian Brown served up three of the War Hawks four aces in the match. Burnell had the other.
The War Hawks hit .138 on their attacks for the match. Conversely, the Cru attacked at a .287 clip. UMHB also had eight team blocks.
