McM Women's Tennis Extends Win Streak to Three

ABILENE, Texas – A pair of dominating wins at the Seidel-Swagerty Tennis Center gave the McMurry University women's tennis team a three-game win streak after knocking off LeTourneau University (9-0) and Schreiner University (8-1).

The War Hawks (3-4) had little problems to open the day versus LeTourneau. In doubles action, Bree Brosig and Samantha Ritz won 8-2.  At the Nos. 2 and 3 contests, McM's pairs of Chloe Patterson and Gabby Camacho at No. 2 and Zayra Gomez and Neah Garza at No. 3, both won by 8-0 scores.

The War Hawks were equally dominating in singles, losing just 11 games and sweeping all six bouts in straight sets.

Patterson and Brosig took Nos. 1 and 2, respectively. Patterson topped Haley Hunter, 6-1, 6-0, while Brosig topped Rachel Morisseau, 6-2, 6-0. At No. 3, Ritz was a 6-1, 6-1 victor over Terin Murray of LETU.

Patterson and Ritz both have personal four-match win streaks going, as well. Patterson and Camacho have a four-match doubles win streak, as well.

At the No. 4 slot, Gomez won 6-2, 6-3 and Symphony Munoz took No. 5 singles, 6-1, 6-0. Sophomore Briana Perez got the "double-bagel" (6-0, 6-0) win at No. 6.

The War Hawks kept rolling in the afternoon contest with Schreiner, albeit with a few closer matches. While still sweeping doubles, McM was pushed a bit more in all three matches. At No. 1 doubles, the Brosig/Ritz team won 9-8 (8-6), but Patterson and Camacho won comfortably, 8-4.

At No. 3 doubles, Gomez and Garza out-lasted the Mountaineers' duo, 9-7.

Patterson won easily (6-1, 6-1) at No. 1 singles. At No. 2, Brosig lost her first set, 7-5, but bounced back to win the next two by scores of 6-2, 6-1.  Likewise, Ritz – at No. 3 – was pushed in the first set, but won 7-6 (9-7) and then closed out LETU's Kara Miller in set two, 6-4.

Gomez and Camacho picked up McMurry's other two points by winning at the Nos. 4 and 5 positions, respectively.
