ABILENE, Texas – The McMurry women's and men's tennis teams were both defeated by the University of Texas at Tyler at the Seidel-Swagerty Tennis Center. The War Hawks men's team (1-3) lost to the Patriots (1-1) by a 9-0 score, while the McM women (0-4) fell to UTT's ladies (1-1), 5-3.
In the men's contest, McMurry lost all three doubles bouts. At No. 1 doubles, the War Hawks' team of
Clayton Pope and
Travis Gough dropped lost, 8-4. McM dropped the Nos. 2 and 3 matches by scores of 8-2 and 8-1.
McM lost all six singles matches in straight sets. At No. 6 singles, freshman
Bryan Blair lost a tough 7-6 (7-5), 6-3 decision in his first-ever collegiate start.
In the women's match, senior
Chloe Patterson had a hand in two of her team's three points scored. Patterson, playing No. 1 singles, won a 7-6 (7-4), 6-0 decision over UTT's Lauren Kuhn. Patterson then teamed up with
Gabby Camacho at No. 2 doubles, where the pair won by an 8-5 score.
McM's other point of the afternoon came from
Samantha Ritz at No. 3 singles. Ritz was a 7-5, 6-0 victor over Alexandra McKissick.
UT-Tyler won three of the singles contests. No. 5 singles went unfinished.
