Box Score REDLANDS, Calif. - McMurry University's women's basketball team lead for the bulk of its season opener versus the University of Redlands, before being overtaken down the stretch, 62-56, at the Redlands Tip-Off Classic.
The War Hawks took the lead at the 8:52 juncture of the first quarter on a jumper by
Skyler Reyna. McM went on a 10-0 run and led 15-6 at the end of the first period, holding a 25-15 cushion at the half. McMurry still owned the 10-point lead with three minutes left in the third stanza, 37-27. The Bulldogs went on a run of their own to close the third, trailing by just a single possession going into the final period, 39-36.
UR continued its run into the fourth quarter, out-scoring the War Hawks 26-17.
The War Hawks held Redlands to 10 percent shooting in the first quarter and 19 percent in the second. But the hosts flipped things around in the second, hitting a blistering 73 percent in the third period and 50 percent in the fourth. McMurry shot a creditable 41 percent for the game as a team. However, the War Hawks did not hit a shot from beyond the arc, going 0-for-12. Conversely, the Bulldogs buried six treys for the game.
Isabel Carrion led all scorers with 15 points, thanks to a 9-for-10 effort from the free throw stripe. Carrion had five rebounds, two assists and two steals.
Skyler Reyna was the War Hawks' only other double-digit scorer with 14. Reyna hit 7-of-16 from the floor. She also grabbed four rebounds and had a game-high three steals.

Sham Hunter had eight points and eight rebounds before fouling out.
Sarah Doherty added six points and three boards.
