IRVING, Texas - The McMurry University women's soccer team closed the book on the 2017 season by scoring a come-from-behind non-conference win at the University of Dallas, 2-1. The victory upped the War Hawks' record to 4-14 overall, while the Crusaders fell to 4-13-2.
The two teams played to a scoreless first half, with McM holding a narrow lead in shot attempts, 7-6. But in the second 45-minute segment, the War Hawks stepped up their offense and took 15 attempts (to just eight by UD), giving the visitors a 22-14 edge in shot attempts for the match.
The Crusaders actually scored first – in the 51st minute – to put pressure on the McM attackers. In the 78th minutes, junior

Angelica Navarro received the assist on what was Lumbreras' seventh goal of the season.
Then, with just over five minutes remaining in regulation, Navarro tallied the match-winner. Navarro headed in a corner kick from the left side that beat UD goalkeeper Tori Fleherty.
Julia Renfrow assisted as McM went ahead, 2-1.
The goal was Navarro's team-leading eighth of the season. She also tops McM with five assists.
