ALPINE, Texas – Senior
Katy Headrick had a match-high 13 kills to lead the McMurry volleyball team to a 3-1 American Southwest Conference win at Sul Ross State University. The War Hawks (11-5, 6-2 ASC) defeated the Lobos (2-13, 1-4 ASC) by set scores of 25-22, 25-20, 23-25, 25-19 at the Gallego Center.
Headrick had a .259 attack average. Headrick also served up four of her team's seven aces in the match and also helped out on defense with five digs. She had a pair of assisted blocks, as well.
Libero
Odalis Rodriguez led the back row players with 19 digs, while
Jaelyn Green dug 11 balls.
Baylie Barnes had eight digs and nine kills, as well as two blocks.
Freshman
Justice McGowan continued her impressive play of late by making five blocks to lead either squad. McGowan had seven kills with a solid .357 attack average.
Jasmine Jones chipped in six kills to round out the McM leaders.
The War Hawks' setter tandem of
Madison Fatheree and
Emarie James combined for 32 assists. Fatheree booked 17 helps, while James had 15.
Neither team was able to put together a good attack as a team. McM hit a pedestrian .071 for the match, while the Lobos ended the night at .000, posting negative averages in the first and fourth sets.
