McM Volleyball Splits on Day 2 of ASC Crossover

AUSTIN, Texas – McMurry University volleyball split its final two matches at the American Southwest Conference crossover tournament, defeating LeTourneau University and losing the No. 9-ranked team in NCAA Division III, UT-Dallas.  The War Hawks (9-5, 4-2 ASC) topped the Yellow Jackets, 3-0 (25-21, 25-20, 25-21), before falling to the Comets, 3-1 (16-25, 25-22, 25-13, 25-10).
 
Baylie Barnes was the only War Hawk with double-digit kill totals, with 12. Barnes hit .212 for the match and also had four digs. 
 
Senior teammate Katy Headrick added nine kills, eight digs and one block. Jordyn Burnell and Justice McGowan had seven and six kills, respectively. 
 
Madison Fatheree and Emarie James each registered 17 assists. Odalis Rodriguez had 17 digs, as well as two service aces.
 
Versus then highly-ranked UT-Dallas team, the War Hawks won the first set of the match, before the Comets blazed back to get the win in four sets. McGowan's 12 kills led the War Hawks' squad, along with her .320 attack average and a pair of blocks.
 
Barnes chipped in eight kills and two assisted blocks. Headrick had six kills, nine digs and two assisted blocks.
 
Fatheree had a 20-assist match and James added 15 "helps."  James also had a match-leading 18 digs and Fatheree 12.  Rodriguez had 17 digs, as well.
