Second Half Goal Dooms McM Women's Soccer in ASC Opener

ABILENE, Texas – The McMurry University women's soccer team lost its American Southwest Conference opener, falling at home to the University of the Ozarks, 1-0, at Wilford Moore Stadium. The loss dropped the War Hawks to 0-5, 0-1 in the ASC, while the Eagles improved to 3-3 overall and 1-0 in the ASC.

The McM defense kept Ozarks at bay the entire first half, as the teams played to a 0-0 draw at the intermission.  However, in the 61st minute, the Eagles' Tiffany Robinson went far post off a free kick by Katherine Zamora to give the visitors a 1-0 advantage.

UO kept the pressure on McMurry the balance of the contest, with 13 of their 18 shots coming in the second stanza alone.

The War Hawks had three total shot attempts. Marilyn Goewart, Emily Garza and Diana Rincon Lopez each had a shot for McM.

McMurry's freshman goalkeeper Jordyn Gregory had five saves, three in the first half. UO's Kiara Henry had two first-half saves to her credit.

The War Hawks will host UT-Tyler on Saturday at 5 p.m.
