ABILENE, Texas – The McMurry University baseball team found the going rough versus the No. 1-ranked team in NCAA Division III – Trinity University – losing a 7-0 decision at Walt Driggers Field. The War Hawks fell to 13-15 on the year, while the top-rated Tigers improved to 26-5.
Six McM pitchers in the game surrendered 10 hits and the seven runs to TU. However, just two of the runs were earned, thanks to a total of seven errors committed by McM on defense. Only the War Hawks' final hurler,
Will Dunlap, did not give up a run to the Tigers' hot bats.
For its part, McMurry collected six hits off of TU starter Michael Walker, who threw the complete-game in gaining the shutout. Walker struck out four and did not walk a batter.
The War Hawks were led by catcher
Taylor Ward, who went 2-for-3 on the afternoon.

Nicholas Moore each had a hit, apiece.
Starter
Ricky Lopez absorbed the loss for McMurry. Lopez went 3.0 innings and was charged with three runs, one earned. Lopez struck out two Tigers and did not walk a batter.
John Eric Cortez – the third hurler of the day for the War Hawks – also posted a pair of "K's" in the loss.
