ABILENE, Texas – McMurry's women's tennis team snapped it's five-match skid with a dominating home win over Sul Ross State, 8-1, at the Seidel-Swagerty Tennis Center.
McM (6-9) opened the day by winning two of the three doubles bouts. At No. 2 doubles,
Bree Brosig and
Savannah McClure battled to an 8-6 win. At the No. 3 match, Brianna Perez and
Symphony Munoz composed an 8-0 win.
McMurry won the Nos. 1-3 singles contests in straight sets. Getting the wins, respectively, were
Chloe Patterson (6-0, 6-0), Brosig (6-2, 6-0) and
Samantha Ritz (6-4, 6-3.).
Freshman
Zayra Gomez – at No. 4 singles – won her opening set 6-2, before falling 7-5 in the second. Gomez then took the deciding set three, 10-5. McM won the final two contests by default for the 8-1 final score.
