ABILENE, Texas – McMurry University women's tennis dropped an 8-1 non-conference decision to NCAA Division II foe University of Texas-Permian Basin at the Seidel-Swagerty Tennis Center.
The Falcons won two of the three doubles matches, to jump ahead in the team score to open the day. At third doubles, the War Hawks' duo of
Savannah McClure and
Bree Brosig lost a hard-fought decision to UTPB's Megan Greene and Shelby Greene, 9-7.
In single play, McM was defeated in straight sets in five of the six contests.
Chloe Patterson and Brosig fell at the Nos 1 and 2 bouts.
Symphony Munoz,
Madison Hathorn and
Zayra Gomez took the losses at the Nos. 4-6 contests, respectively.
McMurry's lone team point came at No. 3 singles, where
Samantha Ritz received a win by default.
The loss was the War Hawks' fifth in a row.
McM will look to right the ship on Saturday, when it hosts Sul Ross State University. Start time has been moved up to 10 a.m.
