ABILENE, Texas – The McMurry women's tennis team lost a 7-0 decision to NCAA Division I crosstown foe Abilene Christian University at the Eager Tennis Pavilion. The War Hawks fell to 4-4, while the Wildcats improved to 10-4.
ACU swept all three doubles matches to earn the first team point.
In singles, the Wildcats won the Nos. 2-6 bouts in straight sets. At No. 1 singles, McMurry junior Chkloe Patterson and ACU's Andrea Crook split sets. Crook took set one by a 6-3 score, only to have Patterson take set two, 6-1. Crook won the set three pro-set, 10-1, to complete the Wildcats' sweep.
Other than Patterson,
Briana Perez at No. 6 was the only War Hawk to win more than one game. Perez lost to Jordan Henry, 6-2, 6-2.
McM begins a four-match road trip next Sunday (1 p.m.) with a match at Centenary College.
