ABILENE, Texas – McMurry University's women's tennis team fell to crosstown foe Hardin-Simmons University, 7-2, at the Seidel-Swagerty Tennis Center. The loss dropped the War Hawks to 5-8, while the Cowgirls improved to 7-5.
HSU swept all of the doubles bouts to take the quick lead in the team score, 3-0. At the No. 3 double contest, McM's tandem of
Bree Brosig and
Savannah McClure lost a tough 9-7 decision to HSU's Jasmines Briant and Laura Weinheimer.
The Cowgirls won the Nos 1-3 singles matches, with McM's
Chloe Patterson dropping a three-set match to HSU's Shayne Cook. At No. 3 singles,
Samantha Ritz was defeated 7-5, 7-6.
McMurry got its victories at No. 4 singles and No. 6 singles, both from freshman players. At No. 4,
Symphony Munoz defeated Hannah Smith, 6-4, 2-6, 10-8. Gomez also won in three sets over Sabra Zullo, 2-6, 6-0, 10-4
