ABILENE, Texas – Despite a solid first half defensive effort, the McMurry University women's soccer team lost a 4-0 decision to Sul Ross State University at Wilford Moore Stadium, in an American Southwest Conference match-up.
The loss dropped the War Hawks to 1-13 (1-8 in the ASC). The Lobos improved to 6-7-1 overall (4-5-1 in ASC contests).
McMurry trailed just 1-0 at the intermission. However, Sul Ross put up a three-spot in the second half for the final score.
SRSU junior Lauren Ebbs – a native of Dublin, Ireland – had a "hat trick" for the visitors. Ebbs tallied in the 38th, 65th and 68th minutes. The Lobos also got credit on an "own goal" when a McM defender inadvertently directed a ball past her own goalkeeper,
Jordan Gregory.
Gregory registered 12 saves in the match, six in each half.
In all, SRSU took a grand total of 21 shot attempts, 16 on goal. The War Hawks mustered three shot tries.
