RICHARDSON, Texas – In its second game of the American Southwest Conference Crossover Tournament, the McMurry University volleyball team lost a hard-fought match to the University of Texas-Tyler, 3-2. The War Hawks (14-7, 6-4 ASC) fell to the Patriots (16-5, 6-4 ASC) by set scores of 24-26, 25-20, 16-25, 25-23, 8-15, played at UT-Dallas.
McMurry also played a non-conference match at Dallas Christian College later in the day, winning a 3-0 decision. The War Hawks won by scores of 27-25, 25-23, 25-13 in Irving.
Versus UT-Tyler, a trio of War Hawks –
Baylie Barnes,
Katy Headrick and
Madison Reed – all reached double-digit kill totals with 10 apiece.
Justice McGowan and
Jasmine Jones had nine and eight kills, respectively.
Jordyn Burnell added seven kills.
Emarie James had a team-best 21 assists.
Madison Fatheree had 16 assists, as well.
Sophomore libero
Odalis Rodriguez had 22 digs. Fatheree and Headrick chipped in 12 and 10 digs. Headrick also had five blocks, while Barnes and McGowan each had four blocks.
In the DCC match, McGowan and Burnell each had six kills, as head coach
Cammie Petree was able to give some of her reserves playing time.
Fatheree had 15 assists. Rodriguez had 14 digs and three service aces. McGowan and LaNisaa Burns each booked three blocks.
