ABILENE, Texas – McMurry University women's soccer fell to No. 20-ranked Hardin-Simmons University, 8-0, in an American Southwest Conference match at Wilford Moore Stadium.
McM goalkeeper
Jordan Gregory had a busy night versus the potent Cowgirls offense. Gregory registered a McMurry University single-game record 23 saves (eclipsing the previous record of 22 set by teammate
Simone Heinle last season, also versus HSU). Gregory had 15 saves in the first half alone.
In all, HSU took 46 shots (32 of which were directly on-goal).
The Cowgirls and War Hawks were scoreless for the first 17 minutes of the contest. But in the 18th minute, Kami Jones tallied the first of her four goals on the night. HSU added two more goals to lead at the half, 3-0. A five-spot in the second half gave the visiting Cowgirls the final 8-0 score.
The War Hawks lone shot attempt of the game came in the 15th minute of the match off the foot of sophomore
Cristen Lumbreras. The attempt sailed wide.
The War Hawks will have a break of eight days before hosting Sul Ross State on October 20.
