ABILENE, Texas – The McMurry women's tennis team improved its season record to 11-3 with a road victory at Hardin-Simmons University, 6-3, at the Streich Tennis Center. It was the third-consecutive win for the War Hawks women's team.
McM won two of the three doubles contests to lead, 2-1, in the team race.
Dana LeMieux and
Jessica Bentley were winners over HSU's Jasmine Briant and
Shayne Cook, 9-8 (7-5) at No. 1 doubles.
Madison Hathorn and
Chloe Patterson upped their team-best doubles record to 12-2 with an 8-5 win over Hannah Smith and Jenna Smith at No. 2 doubles.
McMurry won the Nos. 3-6 matches – all in straight sets – for the deciding points of the match. At No. 3 singles, Bentley toppled Jenna Smith, 6-0, 6-2, while
Bree Brosig improved her singles record to 13-1 with a grueling 2-6, 6-0, 6-2 win over Hannah Smith at No. 4.
Hathorn dispatched of Briant at No.5 singles, 6-2, 6-2.
Gabby Camacho took care of matters at No. 6 singles, 6-1, 6-2 over Lauren Weinheimer of HSU.
