ALPINE, Texas – McMurry University women's tennis notched its 10
th victory of the season by defeating Sul Ross State University, 9-0, at the SRSU Tennis Courts. The War Hawks improved their season record to 10-3 with the victory.
It was also McM's fourth shutout of an opponent in 2015, as well.
In doubles,
Chloe Patterson and
Madison Hathorn improved their doubles record to 11-2 on the year, winning at the No. 1 position over SRSU's Alexa Gallardo and Hanna Schulz, 8-5. At No. 2 doubles,
Dana LeMieux and
Bree Brosig were 8-0 victors over the Lobos' Lindsey Griffin and Hannah Rodgers. SRSU defaulted at No. 3 doubles.
The War Hawks swept all of the contested singles matches in straight sets. Patterson started things off at No. 1 singles, topping Gallardo, 6-0, 6-2. The win improved Patterson's personal record to 8-4 (all at No. 1).
At No. 2,
Madison Hathorn – who normally plays No. 5 – stepped in to fill the spot normally played by
Jessica Bentley (who did not make the trip). Hathorn won a 6-4, 6-1 result against Schulz, giving her a 9-3 record.
At No. 3 singles, Brosig picked up her team-high 12
th singles win (12-1) by dominating SRSU's Rodgers, 6-0, 6-1.
Gabby Camacho won at No. 4 singles, 6-0, 6-1, as well. McM took default wins at the Nos. 5 and 6 slots.
