ABILENE, Texas – The McMurry women's tennis team saw its win streak snapped at four matches, suffering its first loss of the season to UT-Tyler, 5-4, at the Seidel-Swagerty Tennis Center. Earlier in the day, the War Hawks (4-1) defeated Schreiner University, 8-1.
Versus SU, McM easily won all three doubles matches, taking a 3-0 cushion into singles play.
Chloe Patterson was victorious at No. 1 singles, defeating the Mountaineers Leanna Haynes, 6-0, 6-1, but
Dana LeMieux fell at second singles in straight sets.. At No. 3 singles,
Jessica Bentley won the day's only three-set match, topping SU's Karyn Swink, 6-2, 3-6, 10-3.
Bree Brosig,
Madison Hathorn and
Gabby Camacho all won in straight sets at the Nos. 4-6 spots, respectively.
Versus UTT (3-0), the War Hawks spotted the Patriots a 2-1 advantage after doubles action. Patterson and Hathorn were the only pairs play winners at No. 2 doubles. The two teams split the six singles matches, with UTT winning at Nos. 1, 2 and 6 slots.
At the Nos. 3 and 4 singes contests, Bentley and Brosig both won in three sets. Bentley defeated Sarah Moses, 6-4, 4-6, 7-5, while Brosig dispatched of Nicole Musngi, 2-6, 6-2, 7-6 (7-4).
Hathorn won fifth singles, 6-2, 6-4, over Emily Hoover.
