ABILENE, Texas – The McMurry women's tennis team improved to 3-0 in 2015, but not without a little work, thanks to a 5-4 win over Texas Lutheran University at the Seidel-Swagerty Tennis Center. The War Hawks improved to 3-0, while the Bulldogs fell to 2-3. 
McMurry led the match score, 2-1, after doubles action. TLU won No. 1 doubles, but the War Hawks claimed Nos. 2 and 3 matches. The No. 2 team of sophomores 
Chloe Patterson and 
Madison Hathorn defeated TLU's Brooke Taylor and Peyton Webster, 8-0, while the War Hawks' No. 3 duo of 
Bree Brosig and 
Gabby Camacho defeated the Bulldogs' Caitlin Zarr and Joni Baxley, 8-5. 
Texas Lutheran was able to take a 4-3 lead in the team score after sweeping Nos. 1-3 singles from McM. Patterson and 
Allie Hawkins lost in straight sets at Nos. 1 and 2 singles, before 
Jessica Bentley went three sets before falling at third singles to TLU's Zarr. Brosig's win at No. 4 singles – 6-0, 6-1 – over Taylor made the team score. 
Hathorn was similarly dominating at fifth singles over Baxley, 6-1, 6-1 to knot the match at 4-4. The victory was tipped into the McMurry column thanks to Camacho's win at No. 6 singles, where she won over the Bulldogs' Webster in straight sets, 6-2, 6-2. 
The War Hawks will play a pair of matches on Saturday versus Schreiner University (9 a.m.) and the University of Texas-Tyler (3 p.m.), both at the Seidel-Swagerty Tennis Center.
