Box Score ABILENE, Texas – McMurry University's men's soccer team gave the American Southwest Conference pre-season favorite Hardin-Simmons University team all it could handle, falling by a 2-1 score before a crowd of better than 500 fans at Wilford Moore Stadium. The loss dropped the War Hawks to 1-2 on the year, while the Cowboys improved to 1-1.

Ian McCarthy had five saves and allowed the two Cowboy goals (both off the foot of Colyn Moore).
Hardin-Simmons led at the half, 1-0, on Moore's first goal, a blast from 22-yards out into the lower right-hand corner in the 28th minute.
In the 59th minute, Moore took a pass from Cole Johnson and made it 2-0 in favor of the visitors.
Five minutes later, McMurry got its only shot attempt of the evening, and made it count. Senior
Jordan Miller's second goal of 2014 cut the HSU lead to 2-1, as it would remain the balance of the contest.
