Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 SHERMAN, Texas – The McMurry University volleyball team splits its season-opening matches at the Austin College Invitational. The War Hawks defeated Centenary College, 3-0, in their opener and then lost to host Austin College, 3-0.
 
The tourney continues on Saturday with McM (1-1) playing Rust College (noon) and Dallas Christian College at 4 p.m.
 
In the Centenary contest, McMurry won by scores of 25-17, 25-23 and 25-21. Audrey Sanders and Catherine Heath had eight and seven kills, respectively. Heath had an attack percentage of .600 for the match. Sanders also registered nine total blocks.
 
Morgan Thomas had13 assists in her debut as a War Hawk. Jessica Cory added a team-high 10 digs.
 
In the nightcap, host Austin College swept past the War Hawks in three sets 25-13, 25-12 and 25-18. Heath and Kayla Hines each collected eight kills, with Sanders posting six kills.
 
Thomas and Jessica Tennis had 14 and 12 assists. Cory led with 11 digs, while Kelsey Harkins had 10 digs.
