MASON, Texas – McMurry University women's tennis was shut out by Heartland Conference leader - and No. 19 in NCAA II - St. Mary's University, 9-0, in its final road match of the season.
The Rattlers, which are also ranked second in the South/Central Region, won all three doubles matches and then swept all six singles bouts in straight sets.
At No. 5 singles, freshman
Allie Hawkins dropped a tough first set to SMU's Ariana Saldana, 7-5, before losing the second set by a 6-2 score.
McMurry will next be in action at home on Tuesday, April 22 hosting crosstown foe Hardin-Simmons University in a non-conference match. Start time at the Seidel-Swagerty Tennis Center is 5 p.m.
