ABILENE, Texas – McMurry University's women's tennis team found the going tough versus visiting Colorado Mesa University, losing a non-conference match, 7-2, at the Seidel-Swagerty Tennis Center.
Senior
Lauren Renner had a hand in both of the War Hawks' points. Renner won at No. 1 singles, as well as teaming up with
Shayne Cook to take No. 1 doubles. Renner topped the Mavericks' (9-7) Natalie Martin in a three-set contest in singles. Renner won the opening set, 6-3 and lost set two, 6-1, before taking the third and deciding set, 6-2.
At doubles, the Renner-Cook duo won a hard-fought victory over CMU's Kaylee Davis and Rachel McLaughlin, 8-6.
At No. 4 singles, freshman
Madison Hathorn had her personal two-match win streak snapped with a three-set loss to CMU's Rachel McLaughlin (1-6, 6-3, 6-3).
After four-straight home contests, McMurry's team will travel to New Mexico for weekend matches at Western New Mexico State and University of the Southwest.
