ABILENE, Texas – Another match, meant another ranked opponent for the McMurry women's tennis team, this time falling to Dallas Baptist University, 6-3, in a Heartland Conference match at the Seidel-Swagerty Tennis Center.
DBU was ranked No. 8 in the NCAA II South Central Region poll this past week.
The Patriots (8-5, 1-3 HC) led 2-1 in team points after doubles, winning at the Nos. 1 and 2 matches over the War Hawks (1-9, 0-4 HC). At No. 3 doubles, the McM's freshman tandem of
Chloe Patterson and
Madison Hathorn knocked of DBU's duo of Lyvia Gomes/Meredith Robinson, 8-2, to earn McM's first point of the day.
The visitors iced the match by taking the Nos. 1-4 singles matches. DBU won the first three bouts in straight sets, but had to work harder at No. 4 singles where McMurry freshman
Bree Brosig went down swinging, 6-1, 1-6, 10-6.
At No. 5 singles, Hathorn topped Gomes 6-0, 6-0. It was the second-consecutive singles match in which the McM newcomer has blanked her opponent.

Autumn Patterson gave the War Hawks a straight-set victory over Alexa Mentesana, 6-2, 6-3.
