ABILENE, Texas - McMurry University ran into a buzz saw that was Angelo State University, falling by a 101-48 score in its first game at Kimbrell Arena this season. The War Hawks are now 2-5 overall, while the Rams upped their record to 9-1.

Aaron Gettys was McM's leading scorer – and only double-figure scorer – with 13 points. Gettys was 4-for-7 from the field, all from behind the arc.

Jordan Holmes and
Connor Robinson had nine and eight points, respectively. Robinson had a team-high seven rebounds, as well.

Trumaine Elmore also had a season-best eight points, canning 3-of-4 attempts from the floor. Senior
Hondo Webb had five points off the bench.

ASU shot a blistering 66.1 percent (41-62) from the field, a total bolstered by then Rams' out-scoring McM in the paint, 60-14. ASU's size advantage – and lack of misses from the floor - was further demonstrated by its 49-17 advantage in total rebounds.

All five Ram starters tallied in double figures, led by Chris Jones' 18 points. Demario Mayfield had a double-double of 11 points and 14 rebounds.

McMurry trailed at the intermission, 52-23, and was out-scored in the second stanza, 49-25.

Despite finding itself down by double figures, 21-11, five minutes into the contest, the War Hawks climbed to within three on Webb's layup at the 13:25 mark of the opening period, 21-18.
