LONGVIEW, Texas – McMurry University women's soccer and LeTourneau University could resolve nothing in 110 minutes of action, playing to a 1-1 double-overtime tie.
The War Hawks are now 6-5-1 overall and need either a win or a tie in Sunday's season-finale versus Southwestern Adventist University to secure the first-ever winning season in school history.
McM notched its goal in the first half when
Holiday Williams found the back of the net in the 36th minute of play, unassisted. McMurry held that advantage until halftime and midway through the second half of play.
In the 78th minute, the YellowJackets tied the match at 1-1, as it stood for the balance of regulation, as well as the two ten-minute extra segments.
McM goalkeeper
Ashley Hemphill had played into the second OT, making eight saves, but was forced to leave the game with just under five minutes left. Field player
Paige Harwell took over in the War Hawks nets and made two big stops in the waning minutes to preserve the tie.
