PINEVILLE, La. – Two second-half goals from senior
Kristen Grant propelled McMurry women's soccer to a 2-1 win at Louisiana College on Monday afternoon. The victory improved the War Hawks to 6-5 on the year.
After a scoreless first half, the Wildcats went ahead 1-0 with a goal just five minutes into the second stanza. Suddenly, McM was staring at a potential fourth-consecutive loss.
But Grant came to her team's rescue. In the 77th minute, she made a steal and broke away, blasting it past LC goalie Shelby Schneider to knot matters at 1-1.
Then with just a little over five minutes left in the contest, Grant would send her team home victorious by netting her team-leading eighth goal of the year.
Holiday Williams assisted on a game-winning goal, 2-1.

Ashley Hemphill was credited with 17 saves in the match.
The War Hawks need to win one of their remaining two matches to achieve the first-ever winning season in program history. Also, one more win would qualify McM for the NCCAA Central Region Championships.
