ABILENE, Texas – for the second time this season, McMurry volleyball earned a sweep over Letourneau University, 25-18, 25-23, 25-15. The War Hawks improved to 16-6 on the year and have won 10 of their last 11 contests.
The YellowJackets fell to 6-18 overall. McM also defeated LeTourneau, 3-0, on September 20 in Longview.
Junior right-side hitter
Catherine Heath had another big day, smashing a match-leading 10 kills to go along with a .409 attack percentage. As a team, McM had a robust .260 attack percentage.
As the War Hawks celebrated "Senior Day," one of the team's two honorees –
Kayla Hines – had another of her patented all-around efforts. Hines finished with eight kills, four digs and six blocks. (The squads other senior,
Cheyenne Boyd, added a kill off the McM bench in set three).
Audrey Sanders contributed seven kills, four digs and five blocks.
Katy Headrick had five kills and shared match-high block honors with Hines at six (two solo).
Morgan Thomas had 20 of McMurry's 31 assists, while also garnering 10 digs. Libero
Jessica Cory led a trio of War Hawks with double-figure digs at 17. She was joined by
Kelsey Harkins (11 digs) and Thomas.
McMurry's defensive front amassed 12.0 team blocks.
