MASON, Texas – McMurry women's tennis dropped an 8-1 decision to Heartland Conference foe St. Mary's University. The loss dropped the War Hawks to 5-10 overall, while the Rattlers improved to 11-4.
SMU jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the team score early be sweeping all three doubles bouts, while also earning wins at the Nos. 1-5 singles matches. The Rattlers won all five singles victories in straight sets.
McMurry's lone victory of the afternoon came at No. 6 singles from
Autumn Patterson. Patterson split sets with SMU's Mia Jupe, dropping the opener 6-1 and winning the second set 6-2. In the set three tiebreaker, Patterson earned a 10-6 win to take the set.
The War Hawks will next play at Abilene Christian on April 3.
