BROWNWOOD, Texas – McMurry's women's tennis team snapped a three-match losing streak with a 9-0 blanking of Howard Payne University on Friday. The win raised the War Hawks' record to 4-6 on the year.
McM had little trouble versus their former mates from the American Southwest Conference, sweeping all six singles matches in straight sets and winning all three doubles bouts, as well.
The War Hawks dominated the match, losing just 13 games during the entire singles competition.
Lauren Renner won at No. 1 by a score of 6-4, 6-1, with
Dana LeMieux following with a dominating 6-0, 6-0 win at No. 2.
Brandy Curry and
Jessica Bentley won at Nos. 3 and 4 positions, followed by
Salitza Abrantes and
Miranda Townsend at Nos. 5 and 6.
Renner and LeMieux teamed up to win at No. 1 doubles.
Sydney Gonzalez and Curry took the No. 2 doubles match and the tandem of Abrantes and Townsend winning at third doubles.
