Box Score ABILENE, Texas – McMurry University cruised past Huston-Tillotson University 3-0 (25-16, 25-15 and 25-11) Thursday night in non-conference action at Kimbrell Arena.
The War Hawks were coming off a disappointing five-set loss at St. Edward's University and the win was exactly what the team needed.
"It feels great to earn this win tonight," McM head coach
Cammie Petree said. "I felt that we left a lot on the court at St. Edward's and to respond with a sweep is what we needed. We started off a little slow, but once we got into the flow of things and calmed down we did exactly what we wanted to do."
Seniors
Peyton Evans and
Kasi Conners played key roles for the War Hawks.
Evans (Riverton, Utah/Western Texas College) recorded a double-double with a match-high 14 kills and 16 assists.
Conners (Abilene, Texas/Abilene HS) helped out with eight kills and hit a match-high .583.
"When Peyton (Evans) and Kasi (Conners) are playing well that means our team is playing well. To have two players hit above .500 is fantastic," added Petree.
Kelsey Harkins (Elgin, Texas/Elgin HS) helped out with eight kills and seven digs.
Nicole Cowan led the Rams (2-22) with four kills and five digs.
The War Hawks (9-12) are off this weekend, but return to action Oct. 24 and play host to Texas A&M International University.
