ABILENE, Texas – The McMurry women's tennis team scored a 6-3 win over American Southwest Conference West Division foe University of Mary Hardin-Baylor Friday morning at the Seidel-Swagerty Tennis Center.
After dropping first and second singles, McMurry reeled off four consecutive victories at the Nos. 3-6 positions.
Junior
Chelsea Miller – playing at No. 3 - won her fourth-consecutive match, taking a three-set decision over UMHB's Chaley Shiffler. Miller lost the opening set, 6-4, before coming back to win the next two sets, 6-3, 6-4.
At No. 4,
Brandy Curry blanked Carrie Ramos, 6-0, 6-0. That was followed by another three-set win, this time at No. 5 singles player
Hilary Stone. Stone won the first set, 7-5, but lost the second, 6-4. In the third set, Stone was rock-solid with a 10-7 win.
No. 6 singles player
Autumn Patterson improved her personal record to 8-1 with a 6-4, 6-4 win over Angelie Juaneza.
The Crusaders won first doubles, but the War Hawks took the Nos. 2 and 3 matches.
