ABILENE, Texas – The McMurry women's tennis team extended its current win streak to four matches and remained unbeaten in the American Southwest Conference West Division with a 7-2 win over Howard Payne University. The victory improved the War Hawks to 11-5 overall and 4-0 in the ASC West.
The loss was the first in league play for Howard Payne (5-11,m 2-1 ASC
West).
In doubles action, HPU won the No. 1 match. However the tandems of Sonia Del Heirro and
Brandy Curry along with
Autumn Patterson and
Jaime Chitty – playing at the Nos. 2 and 3 positions respectively – both won for McM.
The War Hawks won five of six singles matches – all in straight sets - to salt away the team win for the Division-leading War Hawks.
Dana LeMieux won at No. 1 and McM took the Nos. 3-6 contests with
Lacey Krusmark,
Chelsea Miller, Curry and
Hilary Stone all garnering the individual match wins.
Miller extended her personal singles win streak to five, while Curry's and Patterson's personal win skeins reached four.
