ABILENE, Texas – Two second half goals helped Louisiana College to a 2-1 victory over McMurry University Friday afternoon in American Southwest Conference action at Edwards Field. The Wildcats Raffi Ferreira scored the game winner in the 56
th minute of the contest off of a McMurry deflection.
The War Hawks scored the first goal of the match in the 10
th minute when
Sheharyar Khan found the back of the net on a corner kick. For Khan it was his second goal of the season. McMurry held the lead until the 50
th minute of the contest.
The game-tying goal, scored by LC's Vinny Torres, came after teammate Nic Philpot headed the ball in his direction and Torres finished past McMurry goalie
Rey Arriaga. Ferreiras scored the game winner when his shot deflected off of a McMurry defenders head and found the back of the net.
McMurry was outshot by LC 18-11 and with the War Hawks only landing six on goal. The War Hawks
Ryan Prince took two shots landing both of them on goal. Khan took three shots landing two on goal and scoring McMurry's only goal on the afternoon. Arriaga recorded seven saves on the afternoon allowing the two Wildcats goals.
McMurry moves to 1-8 on the season and 0-5 in ASC action. Louisiana College moves to 2-6-1 on the season and 2-3-1 in ASC play. The War Hawks will play Mississippi College Saturday, 4 p.m. at Edwards Field.
