BROWNWOOD, Texas – McMurry University dropped a 2-0 decision to Howard Payne to fall to 0-9 in American Southwest Conference play Saturday on the road. HPU's Shane Cazad scored two goals to lead the Yellow Jackets to victory.
Howard Payne improved 6-6 overall and 4-5 in league play with the victory with goals in each period. Cazad scored on an assist from Reese Lawson in the 15th minute and added a score in the 81st minute on a set up from Jaime Benitez.
McMurry fired 13 shots and seven on goal, all of which came up empty, and the War Hawks played with only one sub the entire match.
Rey Arriaga saved two shots and allowed two goals in the losing effort.
Drew Clanahan picked up the shutout for HPU with seven saves.
The War Hawks return to action Friday at home against Schreiner at 3 p.m.
