ABILENE, Texas – McMurry University's men's and women's soccer teams continue its American Southwest Conference road trip to face Mary Hardin-Baylor, in Belton, and Howard Payne University, in Brownwood, Friday and Saturday. The women will play at 1 p.m. each day and the men will start 20 minutes after the women's game ends.
The McMurry women go into the weekend with a 3-8 overall record and 2-5 in ASC play. The War Hawks freshman
Kristen Grant leads the team with four goals and two assists. Grant is tied for the 6
th best season by recording four goals tied with
Stephanie Nevels who scored four goals in the 2010 season.
Rachel Moore aides Grant by recording three goals and one assist on the season.
Mary Hardin-Baylor carries a 3-8-1 overall record and a 3-5 record in ASC competition. The Cru is led by Briana Alston who has recorded six goals and one assist, starting only seven games.
Howard Payne University goes into the weekend with a 6-3 overall record and a 5-2 record in ASC play. The Yellow Jackets are led by Leslie Jones who has recorded 10 goals on the season.
The McMurry men's soccer team starts the weekend with a 1-11 overall record and a 0-7 record in ASC action. The War Hawks
Sheharyar Khan leads the team with three goals on the season. Freshman
Mario Varela has added two goals on the season.
The Cru's men carry a 6-3-1 overall record and a 5-3 record in ASC play. Trevor Shoppach and Chris Torres have each recorded five goals on the season and have added two and three assists respectively.
The Yellow Jacket men are 5-5 on the season carrying a 3-4 record in conference play. Shane Cazad leads HPU with 10 goals and four assists. Jamie Benitez has recorded six assists and two goals in nine games played.
